Should I invest in Tesla FSD for 12K with Model Y
I finally saved enough to buy a Tesla Model Y. Tesla is my dream car. Is it ok to stretch my budget a bit and get FSD now. I am also panning to rent my car to Robotaxis in future. Buying FSD now might be cheaper. Please let know your thoughts. TC: 165K #personalfinance #investments #tesla

Buy it with the expectation that it won't be fully autonomous till atleast another 2-4 years, but its a good feature for now for situations like long highway drives. Also, it's an appreciating asset, the price of it will continue to go up
The only worthwhile part of it is the lane changes with the turn signal. Nav on autopilot is more annoying than useful. 2-4 years is absurdly optimistic.

Teslas are overated imo. Wait 2 years and the cars these established carmakers merc, bmw,audi, are coming out with are mind blowing

Drive on navigation, summon, and auto peak are all nice to have, but not 12k nice
FSD presale is a con. Itāll be years before real fsd is available, if ever. Even if it came out in five years, at that point you might as well just buy a new car youāll probably want one by then anyway; couldāve had $12k accruing interest/growing in the market in that time. Plus Iām not convinced current Tesla FSD sensor suite will actually be capable of FSD. Despite Elon whining about LiDAR, everyone else still uses LiDAR, including companies closer to FSD than Tesla.

Do you have more money than sense? Then yes. Paid for FSD over 4 years ago because of FOMO. Absolutely the stupidest fucking purchase of my life, there's not even a close second. Elon has been talking bullshit and flying around in a private jet funded by idiots like me. Learn from my mistake. Buy the car if you want it, but FSD is bullshit and will not do what they claim on these cars in any useful timeframe and probably ever.
