Proofpoint is going private with an acquisition by a private investment firm Thoma Bravo Should I make a move to join this company? I also have another offer from Chewy.
No, absolutely not. Thoma Bravo is a second tier private equity firm. Those guys don’t know how to run a tech company. What is going to happen is that they will lay off a bunch of people to ‘optimize’ the business and load the company with debt. In 5 years they will either sell it to another PE firm or will try to IPO / SPAC.
Bingo

No, you will likely not get options and just not worth it from morale point of view
Proofpoint is terrible company
No
Nah don’t join - Thoma and any traditional PE buyer doesn’t know jack shit about running a visionary product / tech company. They’ll want to “operationalize improvements” and flip in 5 years. Fuck that shit. Don’t join a company that’ll be run by EC boomers
Hit the nail on the head.

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
I’m still wondering why they want to go private… is the performance really that low?
I was given a reason as accelerated growth
Sounds like business talk for lay offs? It either means a hiring spree or mass layoffs
