Should I join coinbase?
Hey Coinbase peeps! I *might* get an offer from coinbase. Shall I jump the gun and join Coinbase? 1. I have been reading that Coinbase is done with layoffs im 2023. Is that true? 2. How many employees does coinbase have today? I’m looking for more dynamic work environment and honestly, a change. Folks at Coinbase, what do you of future prospects of coinbase? 8 yoe, L5, 300k @coinbase #coinbase

1. When the first one happened the exec team said they cut deep enough so there wouldn’t be a second one. Well there was a second one and many people believe we are still over staffed. 2. Not sure, but think around 4000.

1. My work isn’t that hard and my position is stable. I get paid well. 2. Final stages of interviewing 3. No I’m thinking about leaving because the leadership team isn’t great at all. Shockingly poor decisions and nearly always reactive. You can tell a lot of people are there for the money and are overpaid so anything they perceive as a knock of them turns into big issues creating an interesting culture. There isn’t a lot of growth and it’s hard to see how to advance.
I’d not recommend joining. Been there and got burned in the last layoffs. As mentioned in other responses the leadership sucks. Hard to understand their decision making. Also I would not buy “we are done with layoffs” bullshit. They’ve cut way deeper than any Faang and are still bloated IMO. You’ll constantly be in the fear of layoffs if you join. Lastly they pay well but they withheld bonus and cut stock awards for IC6 and above. Also their stock sucks so consider only getting 50% of the actual value.
Ouch, that sucks. Layoffs is my biggest fear as well especially being on visa. Thank you for sharing your perspective.

1. Not true more will happen 2. Nothing to share here feel free to Google it but I will tell you doesn't matter. Advice: don't join unless you like playing with fire. You are an Amazonian so you may survive a rif or 2 but not much longer.
