I have upcoming on-sites for Google and Indeed. I have 3 YOE at 2 jobs, both small companies. I have BS and MS in Computer Science. Both my jobs so far, I have worked primarily using a "low-code" platform called Outsystems. Basically, you use their IDE to "code" and it writes the underlying .NET and React code for you. In my current role, I do write some C# code, but not very much. I've never used React, but am comfortable with JS. My question is, when talking about past projects during my interview, should I mention the low-code platform when asked about tech stacks or just try to lie my way through it? Not sure if I'll get asked too much about the specific project technologies that I used. TC: 90k
Why would you even mention that? Just lie. No one cares as long as you can solve the technical rounds. If you can’t solve the technical rounds, you’re fucked anyways
Best not to lie in interviews.
Yeah, that's where I'm on the fence. I mean, they will presumably never find out what tech stack my current company uses. I just don't want to say "We used React for the front-end" and then get asked some kind of question that I can't answer and look stupid.
Don't mention much about low-code, but do mention what value you brought, probably highlight delivery timelines for feature and stuff. Our company has this same nonsense going on about low-code platform... morons 🤦🏽
I actually like a lot of things about low-code, especially for basic business web apps, but it introduces a lot of other issues. Our company invested a lot in moving to it, but now we are basically moving a lot of our backend away from it.
In hindsight, would you still use no code given a choice ?
As long as you can finish the coding and design questions
