User growth on my SAAS went from 400 to 4000 in the last year. I really feel the momentum and I want to be all in. My brother says I should keep my job to maintain my income but honestly I feel like I can make it work with it without a job. I hate having to context switch between meetings and ultimately I feel like it’d see better growth if I went all in (currently I probably put in 60-70 hours a week, outside my day job) Day job WLB: 15-25 hours a week TC 400K YOE: 2.5
Hire a Product marketing marketer and increase the traction for your company’s website. Go all in.
What is your startup?
If you are only working 15-25 hrs/week on your day job and making $400k then you’d be crazy to full quit. That’s plenty of extra time to work on the startup and the money will give you options to accelerate it when ready to take off
How much is the revenue? Can you still steer your startup for growth even if you take the cut? How much of an impact would that bring in? Without your job how many more client can you add if comparing against you have a job and trying for that? Your hours on you 9-5 is less than average. So my suggestion is no. If it were >40 then I would say yes ( and if it has good revenue)
It’s a freemium app. Revenue $800 a month but I only implemented pay in January. The last year was about user growth
What is your NW?
If you’re really working 15-25 hours at your day job, I’d keep that job for a while longer. How much is your SaaS bringing in?
It’s not what it brings in initially, right ?
Are there really teams in Meta where putting in 25hrs/wk is enough?
Looks like Boz spends 25 hours on Twitter weekly lol
What's the SAAS?
I don’t see you mention the revenue you’re bringing in on the business side, so an easy rule is to not quit until your business profit at least matches your employment income per year. In this environment, I’d say don’t quit until profit is significantly more than your income (2x) and you feel confident in the future growth of the business.
Losing your employee mindset is very hard, few people can say no to paychecks. I would go all in if I were you.
After reading a bunch of comments down below I couldn’t agree more on this. Very few have had their businesses ever and fewer has worked into any startups ever. All have an employee mindset. You would not make enough money what may compare with your paycheck and RSUs together. But in long term it should be more fruitful. You would be your own boss. Life of startups is interesting enough. Think learning beyond technical side. you have reached till Meta once. How hard would it be to stand again and look for a new job once more ? You would have taken your chances and there would be no regrets. It is not that difficult. Cheers.. all the best. Hope you take the best decision.
