Is it worth moving to a lower tier, less well known, but still global scale company for the pay, title, and stability (I think) bump? Both companies I could be happy working for in terms of culture, but have a young family so I’m not sure I’d want to grind for an internal promotion at Spotify.
Is RBI back ti office? If yes, then nope. If it's not RTO, then yes, RBI is a solid company with child branchs like Tim's. Would say take that.
Too small of a bump, negotiate or keep looking
Finding it tough to get this kind of comp in Canada
Leaf... asking for friend: does Spotify offer remote anywhere in Canada?
Yes!
I’d stay because Spotify brand is higher and a 10% bump isn’t meaningful after tax. There’s more space to grow in Spotify and you can just keep searching for better opportunities while you’re still there (vs basically committing to RBI). FWIW, plenty of companies will pay 270k+ in Toronto for Sr Engs
Really? Can you please name a few.
Doordash pays 350k+
I had an interview with a recruiter a while back for RBI to work as a Manager in my particular line of work, but I never heard back from them in regards to my candidacy, so take my advice with a grain of salt. The title change and slight pay bump isn’t worth it, especially since RBI requires 4 days on-site in Miami. You’d wipe out your TC gains in committing and other office related costs. Plus, I don’t think the work that you would do at RBI would be as impactful as the work you do at Spotify; there’s a strong possibility that you may be downleveled if you ever choose to work at FAANG in the future. I’d keep looking and try for something better; the job market for Seniors and Staff is still pretty hot, so you should find something else quickly. TC: 90K
Toronto actually. No significant change in my work environment.
