Should I take a low offer at a safe company?

I was an APM with 1.5 yoe before being laid off. I have had a few interviews but nothing I’m excited about. I have been ghosted by about half of the companies after the phone screen. I rejected an offer from Tata Consulting Services because it sounded miserable. I have a PM offer from Home Depot that is low but I don’t think I will be worked to death and it’s remote. There is no wiggle room to negotiate. It’s contract to hire. They have been clear that it’s a take it or leave it kind of offer. Base pay is 120k, 10% annual bonus, 15% discounted stock, and very basic benefits. This is in the same ballpark as what I was making at my last company. Should I just take it? I was hoping for 135k at least, but I don’t want my severance to end before I find something. Pre Layoff: Base: 106k Bonus: 15% Signing Bonus: 12k Benefits were a little better than what HD is offering.

Take it and still keep your eyes open for other opportunities

There is no such thing as employee loyalty. Take the job, keep interviewing and leave when you find what’s right. Home Depot would drop you with no severance if they felt they made a bad hiring choice tomorrow

Things are going to get tougher and not easier. Take whatever job you can find, and keep looking.

I think based on the feedback so far you kind of know where the community stands on this. As the saying goes, bird in hand is better than two in bush

Contract to hire sounds like an optimal solution if it’s in your ballpark. Easy to explain away a short stint. I’d be much, much more inclined to take that role over a shit “permanent” position (provided you can take the hit on benefits).

Contract to hire doesn't always end up being a hire. I've watched us screw people over and keep them contractors for much longer than they should. It's been bullshit. THD doesn't always hold their end of contractor promises.
