Been on H1B for many years and just got my green card via marriage approved. I am on my way out of the company the moment I find a better job as I am grossly underpaid at the current position and feel I am being treated unfairly when it comes to salaries, bonuses and promotions due to h1b status. If I tell them about my green card there might be some behavior change from management which would be fun to see (not for long since I am finished with them no matter what they do). But I also don’t want to give them any more personal information (the fact that I got the green card and any details of the card HR might want to see) than they deserve. #workvisa #h1b #freedom #greencard

Why doesn't OpenAI offshore and reduce expense by 80%
You have to update HR anyways. I’m sure your manager will also be notified by hr.
Does she have a sister ?

there won't be any behavior change or fun btw. that's in your head. but yeah, update them so that they have your right immigration status.
+1 to this. Also, at least at Amazon, they don’t care to update the status till your current I9 is expiring.
It was for me. Whether the company applies for my GC depended on my reviews. And even though I got praised, great monthly reviews and bonuses, the quarterly reviews were always just below the requirements. Manager kept telling me I need to push more as I need to prove myself. Constant micromanagement. Once I got my GC, he left me alone. I still performed well, but reviews weren’t about how I need to do more to meet the requirements and stopped getting micromanaged. My colleague though still struggling to get his minimum requirements to get his GC applied. It’s been 4 years now. Expecting it to be filed this Jan.
Why would they care if you get a GC. It’s business as usual from their perspective
Not true. The h1b is used as leverage.
I’ve never seen H1B used as a leverage in any decent company like Microsoft, Amazon or so. I’ve worked in H1B for last 12 years and have never had this as an issue from management. Yeah it’s a PITA to have to transfer H1 and all every time we change a job, and also many companies don’t hire H1, but at least in my experience H1 is not a criteria for growth or used as a threat. Now it maybe a different story if you’re in WITCH companies and they could perhaps threaten you with H1
Tell them and leave.
You’re one of many, they don’t give a fuck
Ick. America showing her citizens and the citizens of other countries that they mean nothing. Socialism sounds better every day.
In context of a big company, don’t kid yourself they know who you are, please.
You would have to update HR as a part of your employment requirements. If you are on your way out leave with grace. Telling them now for some vague behavior change fun to see may backfire. Is this fun worth the risk of your management finding an excuse to fire you, if they were looking for opportunities to streamline the team?
Small people think they are important. You’re not. With GC or without it.
Small people like you judge people with partial information.
I am not that important either, we are all replaceable, chill out dude. When they write story about Microsoft, you won’t be mentioned. Me neither in a book on Amazon.
H1B or not doesn't matter for promo or bonus. EM here. Never seen immigration status factor in talent conversations.
💯
Depends on manager too.
I think there is a requirement to update HR about your visa status change. Double check for that.
He/She must to comply with tax codes.
How dare you assume the gender is not they! XD
