Apparently, CBP has the authority to strip search non-US citizens' email and social media accounts and will deny entry if any anti-US comment is found. The problem is there is no official definition of "anti-US". Statements of criticizing Trump or Obama can be considered anti-US and be used as grounds of Visa cancellation. I know entering the US is a privilege and not a right and whether comments are anti-US is on the sole discretion of CBP officers, who may or may not even have a college degree. I thought only countries like China would deny entry of the visitors simply because of criticizing the country. How is the US different from China? https://www.npr.org/2019/08/28/755177166/first-year-harvard-student-stopped-at-boston-airport-sent-home-with-cancelled-vi
Nah bc everyone can have a bad day or experience with particular places. Every immigration officer in any country can do this to you. It’s not limited to just the USA or China lol. You should travel more often.
Tell me one country where they've confiscated your phone, laptop, personal passwords and snooped through your information?
Australia, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
You make more generalizations that the CBP. US = China because there are criteria to enter the country? What’s next, apples = oranges because they come from a tree? CBP can’t make judgment calls because a degree isn’t mandated?
The US is different than China in that the US has due process and inalienable rights. Unlike the US, China also locks up its citizens for saying things on social media.
There is no due process or rights at the border. CBP officer has sole discretion regarding whether you should be strip searched and denied entry.
Citizens have due process rights at the border. Nor can they be denied entry.
Serious question- first amendment is only applicable to American citizens right? Is there a way to see what rights people who are on visa have on US soil?
No. The amendment very clearly says “Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech”. It doesn’t say “for citizens”. Therefore, no law can be made.
Why not?
Hold up. Criticizing Obama is a pro US thing to do though. I heard he hasn’t even produced his birth certificate yet.
Criticizing Obama is pro-US for GOP supporters and anti-US for Democrats. So whether the foreign visitors is pro to anti US really depends on a random CBP officer' political view, which is unreliable and subjective.
Those officers indirectly report to Trump and should follow his guidelines

It depends on how much you actually love the country and the constitution. Officers who sworn to protect the constitution should not be trampling on the 1st amendment.
