Should we leave Bay Area?

I’m 29, spouse is 37, no kids. I make 150 k, SWE and fully remote. Spouse makes 320 k, HWE and hybrid (South Bay). We started working late (we are immigrants and did phd) and we only have like 500 k NW. I’ve been trying to land a job in Bay Area to increase my income but have not been able to in this market. I’m thinking about giving it till end of this year and if I could not increase my income, then we move to San Diego. Probably buy a house immediately or after 1 year. I won’t get a pay cut if I move to San Diego and my spouse can work from San Diego office and I guess won’t get a huge pay cut either. What do you think?

Houses are much more affordable

Show me a 1500sq ft house that sells for $2.2m in San Diego.

If the houses are affordable then they're not in the right location.
