I went to school in a state school in the south east. Now I live in the Bay Area for work. I’ve literally had people here tell me they feel sorry that I had to go to school there, or that they’ve heard it sucks to live there Meanwhile my tuition was 1/4 the cost of theirs and we have similar jobs. Not to mention, I really enjoyed my school and had a lot of fun. Why are Californians so elitist and like to shit on other schools? This somewhat applies to northeast too. I understand that those schools are world class, but it’s very low-class to talk down to people as if they are somehow less than you. I think Berkeley and Stanford teaches math and science well but apparently they don’t encourage manners or how to behave in a social and professional setting. End rant
Weird that you think I can’t go on a small rant while also focusing on work. We all have pet peeves and sometimes it helps to blow some steam. Doesn’t mean I am not having growth goals. Also, they are not my friends but it does get annoying even from strangers after some time
Sorry, I just didn’t understand why you were giving career advice here.
SAT or GTFO
😂
They have to justify all the money they wasted some how by creating insane standards
Lol, I know people like that OP. Just keep calm and work hard. They will respect when the work comes through.
I think you’re overreacting, but let me check my elitism. What school did you go to?
It's the same across the whole world, elitists everywhere
I guess a therapist would ask: why does it bother you? People who care what univeristy they went to are insecure about something. I am from CA and went to a UC but not Cal and could care less where others went. I’m also old and maybe this is a young person thing 😑
But yes I could imagine this gets old. Maybe they barely graduated? Legacy kids and feel insecure? They don’t have friends?
I agree with you, however, I grew up in California and went to a state school myself but I wouldn’t call Californians elitist. Like anything else It’s a mixed bag and there are elitists from everywhere. I do think it’s dumb because regardless of where I went to school, I’m working with people who overpaid for their education 🤷
where did you go
Agreed. I went to a small school for undergrad and now a top public university for grad school. They all considered me as lesser until I started getting better offers than them
