I applied in late December, had first round with an engineer early January. Went great. I was able to answer all questions, and I received positive feedback. Then few days later, they tell me that after doing their headcount, they decided they no longer want to hire people at my level at this time. I know this is not uncommon across the industry, and I have other interviews so I'm not very mad. Just wish I didn't waste my time up to that point.
what level were you interviewing for? I had a similar experience with them recently
I applied for both "software engineer" and "senior software engineer". I have 3 YOE. What about you?
yeah i’m in the same boat as you
Weird. I have similar level of experience and a recruiter reached out to me last week.
Let me know how it goes. Good luck! Maybe they didn't like the companies I worked at coursera sounds better than the start-up I'm at.
Did it go well?
People who have interviewed, what can I expect for my SWE Tech Screen round tomorrow? Closer to Leetcode questions?
It was an algo problem, but not super leetcode-y but more practical. The interviewer really focused on testing code, and they also changed requirements around the end to see how I would deal with it.
Easy-medium on leetcode scale
It sucks but if they're telling you they're pumping the brakes on hiring you really don't want to join anyway. Way more upside at a company if they are growing instead of shrinking.
