Snap Embedded Software Engineer interview process

I was reading through this forum nerve-racked after my on-site at Snap so I thought I would share the story of the interview. This was for the office in Vienna (Austria). I applied on their website end of March. I had Skype screening from the head of local team on 22nd of April. Nothing technical generally a pleasing talk to see if the expectation on both sides matches. Then I was contacted by HR in about a week to schedule second call. That took place on end of April. It included technical talk finished off with a bit of coding in plain C (specifically in the embedded domain - nothing surprising for anyone doing embedded SWE). Again in about a week I was contacted to organise a on-site interview (which.. due to corona.. was actually "virtual" as well), but anyway that was on Friday the 8th May. This was with 4 different persons 2 of them more on the managing side, 2 of them engineering. All of which was very similar to the second call, lot's of technical talk and a bit of coding (again C). I felt I did well on 3 of 4, on the last one I struggled a bit on the coding side.. though I managed to figure it out in the end, but it took way too long (in retrospective). Then nothing was happening for about 10 days (with me trying to contact HR first by e-mail, then by call.. I thought I was ghosted..). I was really nervous so I contacted the manager that I spoke first via LinkedIn and he told me that the responsible HR person is on vacation which explained the situation. He also told me that they would like to have me on the team and that my interview feedback was excellent. After this I was contacted by HR the next day starting to fill out the classic details of when, how much etc, but also with a message they are doing HC prioritisation so it might take time. (i.e. I don't have a written offer yet). So all in all mixed experience.. The interviews itself were well conducted albeit very strange format in Europe. The downside was no communication after the interview, but considering the situation (corona) and HR person on vacation I don't take it too bad... #embedded #swe #software #snap #vienna

There are very few embedded folks on this app. Could you share your preparation? We could talk privately if you prefer.
