Purpose of phone interview is to see if you have some good chance of passing onsite interview. You should be comfortable to open xcode and start coding. Specific questions vary but it will be ios development related. We try to not ask unrelated algorithm questions. You still need to know data structures/bfs/dfs etc to solve some maze problem for example. We may ask short questions to understand your knowledge on collection view usage, Threading, Solid design principles, storage and so on. You may have one easy question to start and follow up questions to that. You should be able to clarify requirements and communicate clearly.
Thanks much, that helps!!
Wrong, ive seen questions where its purely algorithmic and nothing to do with iOS
Yeah, got interviewed today. Nothing with Xcode unfortunately. And only trees.
Super trash
?
Awful phone experience with snap. It seems like they care about the syntax and using the for loop over while loop, way more than the actual logic. The weirdest interview experience ever. Interviewer wouldn’t even bother listening to my logic and be like just write the code code code. Wtf! The worst of all would be that the interviewer was completely oblivious about my choice of language and tech stack. There was no help provided with language API that I was trying to use and it was expected to provide running code. You go for iOS interview and the interviewer was Android engineer and all the reading questions were in python! I might have missed one case at the end due to running out of time and rest I solved it all. They asked me two reading and two writing questions in one hour. Rejected!
Can you elaborate on the reading and writing questions? What do these even mean?
They'll send you a question which will disappear as you read 😅
