Had an on-site last week. I did pretty well on all the round except for one coding round (I also think I did pretty well on the system design). Was told last week that they needed one more coding round after the on-site to get all the data they need. Is this a bad sign? Was originally looking for L4 position if possible. Tc : 170 Yoe: 2
No, it’s not a bad sign. They are having you another interview, that’s normal and a great sign that you’re going through the interview process. My last company had 7 rounds of interviews for every hire
That's a great sign.. typically they don't give you another chance.
do you think it's still possible to get a L4 offer even with this?
We typically don't try to downlevel, are you sure you're interviewing for L4 given your low yoe and at non-Faang?
No diff. L3 would even beat your current TC.
Your YOE is low so just confirm with the recruiter. You could probably swing for high L3 which will put you around 190-200
Very unlikely you're up for L4. This is probably because they wanted to try you for L4 but you didn't meet the bar. I've heard from some deciders that they don't do sys design for l3, so they may be asking another coding round to confirm if you can get l3 (essentially throwing out sys design round and supplementing it with another coding round).
Do you know what typically separates L3 vs L4? Is it the coding round, the behavioral or the design round
Design round traditionally, it'll be the same across companies
