Hi dear friends, I got L6 offer from Snap and sr staff offer from LinkedIn recently and quite wonder which one to go to. Would love to hear what you think and suggest! Comp wise, Snap TC is about 100k - 150k higher, depending on when I join and if or not I should consider the cash bonus which they clearly said is not guaranteed. Level wise I guess LinkedIn's sr stuff is kind of L6.5? Not having a lot of idea of that. Snap: Pros: 1. Seems product is more popular which implies more upside. 2. TC. 100k - 150k is not a small number which I can easily ignore. 3. Turned into profitable (finally). Financially seems things are getting better. 4. No 1-year cliff. Immediately get stock and am able to sell it. Cons: 1. Stock price may go down again, especially consider the horrible amount of debt it has. 2. Layoff history in the past is a concern to me. 3. Less cash. No sign on bonus. TC is very heavy on stock. 4. I heard very bad WLB? 5. No stacked refresh so actually the TC gap is not that huge. LinkedIn: Pros: 1. Chill. Good WLB. Nice cafe and food. 2. Msft seems much more stable than the growth companies in the recession. 3. Job security? 4. More cash, especially for the first year. 5. As a user, I use LinkedIn much more frequently than the others including Snap so having better agreement on its product value.. Cons: 1. Heard that the place is quite political. R&V or feel painful about daily work. 2. Heard that the stacked refresh is there, but mostly peanuts. 3. 1-year cliff of vest. My current focus for the next 1-2 years are mostly on stability. Unfortunately I just got a heavy mortgage before Pins becomes a sinking ship (shame on you pins) so cash flow is kind of important. However, I also have enough cash to pay the mortgage of the next 3 years (thank you Pins for teaching me such a lesson), which means if I want to make a small bet, I can still take it. Speaking of that, I am not quite optimistic about how the job market will look like in 1-2 years. If things did go well, it might be more difficult than now to switch to another job, and that is the biggest risk I am trying to avoid. Any suggestion would be appreciated! YOE:10 TC: a little over 700k, still dropping and cliff is around the corner. LinkedIn TC 720k Snap TC around 800k. #linkedin #snap
LinkedIn!!!!
We got some bad ones from them who screw things up so I should go there to make it equal I guess XD
Haha, I know what you mean, but op based on your offer I am sure you can only make LinkedIn better
Post the actual offers.
Yes. Give something to the community to get something back.
Done.
Are you l5 at pinterest? L6 at 10 yoe is impressive.
L6
What’s both tc?
LinkedIn Sr staff > 700k?
Trust me, LinkedIn is a whole bloody disaster if you pick the team wrong. Sr. Staff in infra//growth? Might as well live in your manager’s house from there on.
Fuck. Snap recruiter was lying to me last year when she said l6 offer won’t go above 700
MSFT stock is stable
Is LinkedIn L6 or senior staff like engineering manager level ? I'm not sure which to map to what levels .please help to clarify ? Thank you
L6 with yoe 10 is very impressive
L6 in Snap is equal to L7 in F/G?
No. 6.25 at F/G at most.
