CapitalOne TC for Lead DevOps Engineer

Hi, I interviewed at CapitalOne for the Lead DevOps Engineer and passed PowerDay and got the feedback that "I killed it" (from recruiter) with interviewers mentioning (to recruiter) that I have potential for manager roles in the very near future. The Job Description for the role had these ranges: - 190,950 - 225,278 (Loc. is New York) - 161,847 - 190,943 (Loc. is Colorado) Still don't have the offer (waiting for 1 more informal conversation with hiring manager), but recruiter mentioned that the range for base for this band starts at ~170K (without specifying location). I mentioned that it sounds too low for "my geo" and C.O.L. Index. I just wrapped it at saying that my expectations would be higher (without giving number). Doing research on my own, I was able to estimate these to be "truthy": - "my geo" vs. NY SWE to be 9.7% higher in "my geo" for mean salaries for 2021 (bureau of labor statistics) - "my geo" vs. NY SWE to be 14% higher in "my geo" for mean salaries for 2022 (bureau of labor statistics) - Ignoring "my geo" vs. NY SWE % for 2023 because it's unknown, so basing geo adjustment on 2022 data - Adjusted range for TC for "my geo": 217,683 - 256,816 - Adjusted midpoint: 237,249 - Bonus ~10% of base to be reasonable (but I've seen even 12% and plus based on levels.fyi data) ? - No data if RSU's or other bonuses are given for this band at CapitalOne ? - No data if there is YoY compensation increase at CapitalOne at the end of the year (not based on performance) - Sign-on between 20K - 25K to be reasonable ? Based on the few known things above and unknown things above as well as unknowns about other benefits, at this point in time I find this to be reasonable to consider for the 1st counter (when it happens): TC: 260K (215 base + 21.5K bonus + 23.5K sign-on) Am I too much off ? Should I be confident with stating the counter with the above considering feedback on performance on the interview, or that doesn't matter? What are other perks at CapitalOne that engineers are excited about? What is the health insurance provider for the West Coast? ---------- Current TC: ~16% less than above (I guess that is reasonable bump when changing roles). Coming from a Staff Eng. role at another company bigger than CapitalOne when it comes to engineering department (not FAANG). #capitalone #c1 #salaries #offer #negotiateoffer

Damn, man. I need the TL;DR version. I'm not here to think too hard.

TLDR; Is it much to ask for TC 260K (215 base + 21.5K bonus + 23.5K sign-on) for Lead Software Eng. at CapitalOne with 13 YOE, working remotely from West Coast state?

Capital One ugotme Dec 15, 2022

I think 215K for Manager level is not bad for SWE, but 13 YOE should be a higher level anyway.

You’ll probably not get the 21.5K bonus so I wouldn’t count that

@mezcalpapi, what's the more reasonable bonus as % of base?
