Snowflake offer

I cleared the onsite and the recruiter is aksing for my expectations on the comp. Im being offered L3 position, which is senior software engineer-1(they say its equivalent to L5 at google) and have about 9 YOE. what should i ask for? is this reasonable? Base 200k and stocks 800k. Is it too much or too less. Update: offered TC of $360k per annum. Base 190k, annual bonus 15% and 15k worth of RSUs

this is negotiation 101. avoid giving out the first number and tell them to make an offer

Personal Capital cVBN11 OP Aug 12, 2020

The recruiter is like there is a whole range and he can’t give out a number till he has numbers from me. He was like there is also another candidate whom they have extended an offer to and whoever accepts it first gets the offer. So dumb. The immediate thought was I don’t want to work for this company but then what am I gaining by having an opinion on the recruiter.

Always ask for more rsus since they are private... So I would just do 220 + 1 mill

Akamai Technologies f8955gvj Aug 12, 2020

Being that every company has a budget and pay bands - I start with you have a budget so can you share that?

Facebook Hodinkee Aug 12, 2020

There was recent post about snowflake offer. Search. I think they had 1m rsus.

Personal Capital cVBN11 OP Aug 12, 2020

For L3 or senior software engineer?

Facebook Hodinkee Aug 12, 2020

Yes, iirc senior

Microsoft great-seal Aug 12, 2020

L3 is not senior If you're really getting a senior offer then 200k base and 20K RSU is probably the top

Personal Capital cVBN11 OP Aug 12, 2020

Senior software -1 is what he told me and it seems it equates to L5 at Fb or google. This is the information that I received from recruiter

Snowflake Computing gIiF05 Aug 12, 2020

He meant IC3 not L3. IC3 is Sr.SE1 and L5 equivalent

How did it go

Personal Capital cVBN11 OP Aug 14, 2020

I asked the recruiter what they can offer

VMware ShowMeCode Aug 14, 2020

If a recruiter cant give you a number the company doesn’t value u. They just want the cheapest labor. Ive worked many places and everywhere the recruiter didn’t give a number was the worst place ive worked at . “It’s a range” is fcking BS. Fine let it be a fcking range give the top no. This is a red flag. They dont want to pay u ur worth

Personal Capital cVBN11 OP Aug 14, 2020

What do you do in this economy? And this much of competition

VMware ShowMeCode Aug 14, 2020

Well is your current workplace so bad? Then sure go for it but just know how companies take advantage.

Personal Capital cVBN11 OP Aug 14, 2020

This recruiter is like he got the offer approved and can’t change the number. All I asked him was please come up with a number that you think is appropriate for this level. He put whatever number he liked and got it approved it seems. Such a joke.

Snowflake Computing bonhomme Aug 14, 2020

So what was the offer the recruiter gave you? Since now they are giving RSUs, and the company is close to an IPO, I would not expect millions in stock for IC-3. And I think you would have the same experience with other unicorns in the Valley.

Many people think snowflake is overvalued just fyi

Personal Capital cVBN11 OP Aug 14, 2020

They are offering me $360k TC at $12.5 billion valuation. Any thoughts on this? Looks like an average offer for 9yoe. Also, isn’t snowflake doing sign on bonuses?

Amazon tp99 Aug 14, 2020

Snowflake standard bonus is 15%. Can you provide TC breakdown and RSUs count

Personal Capital cVBN11 OP Aug 14, 2020

Updated post

To be honest this is an amazing offer! Most are getting 5-8k rsus now due to huge upside potential. 15% bonus is paid quarterly which is real thing! Most analytics project ipo price at 50-60. No sign ons is normal for pre ipo time as cache is limited. Perks will come after ipo im pretty sure they will have 401k match and more.

Snapchat bullbucka Aug 24, 2020

Wtf is 15k rsu? Dude, if anything don’t sign a contract without getting better equity. Snowflake will do great once ipo, and if anything you want to own equity in that firm.

Personal Capital cVBN11 OP Aug 24, 2020

650k in Value

Snapchat bullbucka Aug 24, 2020

Great offer, sorry I thought you meant 15k usd. Take the offer, they will do 👍
