"Even AI Hasn’t Helped Microsoft’s Bing Chip Away at Google’s Search Dominance" It was all hype, now back to reality. #microsoft #openai https://www.wsj.com/tech/ai/microsoft-bing-search-artificial-intelligence-google-competition-6e51ec04
Nah Nutella was 100% right, now we gotta run GPUs for every search and kneecapped any genuine long term project to fixate on rushing a half-assed version on the shittiest model The dance line was about how we’d do exactly this and hurt margins in the process, and we did. The whole point was you can afford that on low user count Bing, but not on Google. Then throw on Jeff Dean defenestration, McKinsey ML lead, embarrassing Sundar and McKinsey interviews, the research and rest and vest guy who never really liked Google anyway is now running things out of London…and that’s just the same mistake we made that got us here in the first place If I were Nutella I’d be laughing every day at how easily he spun Sundar into rushed poor decisions on limited info and understanding. Excellent payback for Android. God I love him
You don’t have long term projects after a certain year. It’s your thing.
What happened with Jeff Dean?
It was a big hype and nothing has changed. Probably won’t change big in a few years because AI isnt mature yet (it can’t even answer stuff correctly)
The only people dancing are the ML engineers and literally every person at Nvidia.
