I already work in a mid market company in HR Tech. Company hasn't made a name for itself yet, since it's still growing. CMO of the company is leaving current company to work on his own venture in HR Tech but won't be in direct conflict with current company's product. CEO/CTO are supportive of his decision. New venture is around diversity and inclusion which is pretty much what all governments are root for these days for all Enterprises. TLDR; I got a call YESTERDAY from CMO, he presented initial idea and direction and asked me if I would like to be his CTO. We had worked together in past, so that's how he knows me, might have made a good impression back then. I haven't told anyone yet, i am a bit tempted though. But i need to think it through. Which is why I need thoughts from other people, about similar experiences or elderly advices. More info- I did BTech from India from a prestigious college. And later on while working in India, i got H1 to come to US. I came to US 3 years back via consulting firm. I left that company after 3 months of coming to US after i realized i was being paid pennies. Joined my current company and have been doing pretty well. Current CTO is very happy with me and i am already going up the ladder, i can see perspective of being director or VP in company in couple of years. I have been collecting savings to buy a house but it's not enough yet to buy a house in Bay Area, i am living on rent. Most likely till next year, i plan to buy house next year. I am 28 years old, on H1B on EB3 Green card path. If it was India, i would be much easier for me to make decision, i have lot of people to support me, financially. But for now i feel i don't understand the risks enough here being on Visa status in US. Btw, my wife work in Walmart Labs as SE3. She is on F1-OPT and this time is her last try to get H1. If she doesn't get it, we had planned to move her to EAD as my dependent. In all - Have you had any experience like this in your life ? 1. What did you decide to do and what was the outcome? 2. What should I do with my VISA status ? Can I proceed, or will there be any potential hurdle? 3. What considerations i should do before i make a step like this ? Exp- 6 years(3 years in India + 3 in current company in US) TC - 200k
I think go for it, it’s a great opportunity
Man, this is a tricky situation, do your dd with the company. And once you take the decision, do share it with others, I would like to know how this goes
I had same experience when I came here but took risk spend time in startups 2004-2008 - bad recession time but miss my GC thing and that’s big mistake ..again depends on passion ..

Companies that pay as much as meta
As an Indian male, I think it's a bad idea to bet your visa status on a diversity and inclusion company. Whatever you do, there will not be a day when the success is even remotely attributed to you or technology in general, even if the company is successful.
I think so too, but it's still a opportunity to build something for people. And enterprise will kill for DnI.
