Who designed and coded the SoFi app for iOS? It’s a bloated slow pig. 500mb+? It takes forever to load. Such a crappy user experience. At first I thought it was me with my iPhone 11. Talked to a friend of mine who has a 14. Same crappy experience. This is the first interaction the customer has with your company and it’s terrible. #sofi
I think it just got that way over time and with chaos in the org. People are aware, which is why there was a push to migrate to flutter. It hasn't really been proritized over the years.
We're working on it. We have had 5 heads of eng in 5 years, so new features were always prioritized over performance until now.
Last comment was in July, it's October now. Any progress? Because my iOS app most of the time is very very slow when opening to get to the FaceID/login interface... It's really annoying having to wait so long 5-10 sec (which is long in this time and age)! Not sure if you may be able to help with another issue I'm having that I have tried to get to the bottom of it via service chat but without a conclusion really: Since earlier this year all of a sudden the web login (ANY browser) now ALWAYS requires a code no matter whether I click "Remember device" or not. Service went through the generic process e.g. to click "Forget Remembered Devices" and try again, but that never worked. It was fine before that started maybe around February this year and never changed. At some point they said, it's a known issue and EVERYONE has this problem at the moment. That was 3 months ago – still no change. Weird: a friend of mine who has been using SoFi for years and introduced me to it does NOT have that issue. Any thoughts on this? Cheers
We have a rewrite of login coming up, and continued optimizations, we are just migrating to flutter and it has been very painful. I actually have that same issue with remember me not working, it's a pain in the ass. I would continue bugging support about it.
I counted when I launched the app last nite. Close to 15 seconds before it loaded and asked me to authenticate. That is a bad user experience. As a new user I can tell there’s a lot of bloat with the app trying to do everything financial under the sun. I do appreciate the sofi folks acknowledging the issue though. Full disclosure, I was referred by a friend and signed up. My goal is to use it as a hysa but due to this slowness I’m starting to look at other options. I assume churn isn’t an issue, else the company would prioritize the user experience.
iOS or Android? App startup is also something getting prioritized. We are in the middle of a big app migration and have been doing foundational work that will pay off long term. We started rolling out a new invest experience this week as well that is much better.
