One of my interviewers (deoyment strategist) at Palantir said he was riding in the back of 3 letter agency vans finding and arresting people. Another said he was deployed in Afghanistan at a forward operating base embedded with special forces guys. does this stuff happen? whats the reality here
Yes it does and I am positive they arent the only company
Yes it certainly does to ex-cia/ex-military
Former AFSOC/JSOC guy turned dev checking in 👋🏼 Def does happen, and there's a good amount of us in the tech world now. Buddy of mine went to Two Sigma and another to a pmc firm doing data like Palantir
I should maybe clarify - does this type of work happen at Palantir?
I personally see no reason why a "nerd" would be embedded with an ops team. Maybe and it's a huge maybe they would be with the Det but def not outside the wire. The only guys that are techy that I've seen running ops are the combat comm guys.
