How integrated is Audible in Amazon? Do engineers at Audible use Amazon tools just like Amazon engineers? Like is their full codebase in code.amazon? Do they use Chime and Slack for meetings and communication within the team or something else? Do they use AMZN resources like Sage, the Amazon Wiki? Pipelines? Do they use AWS, Isengard, etc? Do they use Amazon benefits, is that where their benefits are structured and managed? Also, how’s internally switching if anyone has done that? Would an Amazonian need to go thru leetcode interviews/loop or can they cold-message on slack and have informal chats to offer only like a typical internal move? Thinking of switching, lmao
Yes, they have access to all of those tools. Isengard is used by AWS only, but they have access to Conduit. The differences are mostly in HR and project management software. Audible uses Workday instead of peopleportal, timeoff, and Ivy. Additionally, they use Jira and Confluence over SIM and the Amazon Wiki. They generally get more benefits than the average Amazon team. There’s a tuition reimbursement, health and wellness reimbursement, and free meals in the office. They use OKRs and use the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) which means their business cadence is a bit different than that of many Amazon teams.
Op aren't you supposed to be one of them youngun's singer? Why join Amazon?
Yeah I did a full 180, crazy Thinking bout the way I was
Lmao. Underrated comment. 😆 😆 😆
Audible has been integrated with Amazon for quite a while and is something like... 70% the same. Definitely not like Twitch. Much of it was covered before on the main differences, but internal transfer experience will vary by team. Follow the usual process of reaching out via Slack or email. It might be more informal.
How similar is the culture at Audible vs other parts of Amazon?
Yes after the Twitch hack they started getting everyone using Amazon Builderhub tooling. These small subsidiaries can’t be trusted to be secure with their own tooling.
