I received a job offer from a financial company in NC area. Moving from Principal SE to SEM. Any thoughts on the offer ? Counter Offer ? Title: Software Engineering Manager Base: 171,500 Bonus: 10% (Performance based) YOE: 12+ #offer #counteroffer #tech #finance
Honestly I think you should decline unless you really feel strongly about working there. It feels low
Agreed - offer is low for SDM. SDE2 TC at my firm (also finance) starts ~190k. But we’re based on the west coast
Thank you ! I m told no scope for negotiations but I will try to counter.
are you currently in NC? if so go for it
Yes I am in North Carolina, it seemed at least 20K off to me.
negotiate for the difference! ah nvm i see you said no negotiation. i’d still try it if you want to break into EM
What's your current TC? If it's more than what you're making now and you want to move to EM then what's the question?
Current TC 155 question is - is the change worth the money and what is a fair ask based on market
Only you know if you want to be an engineer or manager more. That's what I'd focus on if I were you.
Don’t join a bank .. your comp would get static.
Why you say so ?
Have been in bank for a long time. YoY increase would be peanuts . In a 5 years span you would be way behind your peers in Tech companies . Not talking about traders, Quants or risk managers of course.
What are the salary ranges for such roles ?
My research says 120K to 210K for base salary. Rest others can help this is why I opened the post
