Software developer/Quantitative Researcher in hedge funds

How does sde role in hedge funds like two sigma/ jane street compare with sde role in normal tech companies like fb google apple uber etc. IMO the base is comparable but you can make much more in bonus at hedge funds(right?) How about work life balance, culture diff etc.?
