What is it like to be a software engineer at snap. There have been layoffs couple of months back. How is the morale at the company. Do folks think revenue and profit are going to increase.
Check out quora: https://www.quora.com/What-is-it-like-to-work-at-Snapchat. And Glassdoor currently has 2.9 stars. I wonder how much of that was from the layoffs because it used to be 4+. Probably some people from snap can comment
Would say google is a much better choice than snap now
I think is good and gets better as the company matures
Team dependent
High secrecy, low transparency, paranoid culture, no power in engineering to build new things or change things (unlike Google’s 20% time culture and Facebook’s hackathon culture) - things are mostly decided by CEO or design. Day to day is very team dependent. Probably 10-15% of teams here are better than the average Google team, and 30% are better than the average SV midsize company team. Morale is recovering after the layoffs but was quite low a month ago. Glassdoor rating was 4+ for a while due to 20+ HR-planted short uninformative reviews. In general it’s not as engineering nor employee friendly as most places are and it shows.
Lol googles 20% time... maybe 15 years ago, now it is used to argue semantics on CRs between rev 42 and rev 43

Uh oh: President Trump leads Biden 49% to 43% in a two-way race.
Really bad toxic culture. Stay away if you can. The CEO is a douche bag who thinks all engineers are replaceable code monkeys
