Why is there infinite renewal of H1B visa if GC is in process ? it makes no sense, if govt wants 7% quota for GC, then dont extend visas indefinitely, this wil make it easy for everyone. This will also help reverse brain drain. this is the only way to fix GC problem imo. #workvisa #h1b
Maybe cut out the social security tax too. Because with a person on 6 year H1B can never use social security benefits. How would citizens feel paying more taxes than H1B holders because they get more benefits? :)
Citizens don’t earn that much. H1b Indians are not going to go anywhere as we are the ones paying for the retirement of these so called American citizens
Great idea. That way everyone wins
No. H1B visas should be like GC , no country should get more than 7%
That makes no sense. You can’t merge skill and ethnicity. Just remove infinite renewal and hardly anyone will want to apply for H1B in USA
Makes no sense approving 60K H1B visa for Indians & 6K GC annually. Country quota must apply on both. This bottleneck causes backlog
Make immigration merit based. Auto GC for any merit immigrant. Problem solved
But.. but... what about diversity... wont you rather have my nepalese or italian village come n live with you?
Do you think a masters from some random Pakistani/Indian universities hold more merit compared to a bachelor from UWaterloo ? Do you think someone who worked for 1 years at a FAANG should get less point than some dude who worked for 3 years at WITCH because the latter has more experience ? Right now in many countries that employs point system for PR, the formers are regarded higher. It's obvious who'd excel in the job market. As long as merit based doesn't take into account of these facts, its flawed and will be gamed.
Alternatively give green card to people who have paid taxes for 15 years. Also, “these people” cannot sponsor their families.
Or these people can stop waiting endlessly and go share their talent with their home country?
Sure that works too.
Yes. This is the only solution op
With current situation. USA is not number one please for talent attraction. Problem will solve in one decade when no one will desire to come to this place.
I don’t think people back home have any idea
With f1 visa issues the problem will be solved in 5 years
country quota might be a good idea too
INdian: I am not gonna beg. I am have indian citizenships, I do not need. I will go back make India and government proud. Those who is begging for gc , you are indian anti nationals. 😀😀😀
What?
Soln to GC prob is not here but back home . Maybe stop glorifying life in USA and maybe just openly discuss the pros and cons of moving so that new students know what they are getting into . When FOMO ends or becomes more reasonable the GC prob will end.
I totally agree. Our society is fked up . This glorification is messed up .
FOMO = fear of missing out + fear of moving out of USA

Is "From the River to the Sea" So Wrong?
No one uses 6 years for GC except China and India. So it is not going to solve the GC problem if you think there is a GC problem. I will give you my personal example. I am in H1B 14 years counting and at the same time I have a friend from Nepal. He got GC then Citizenship then his parents got GC and then His parents got Citizenships. And now his all siblings are here and are citizen. They delayed one Indian GC but end up giving 7 citizenship to my friend and his family. Making 6 years will not solve the problem for USA.
The main problem we have is a choice to stay here because of the stupid infinite renewal and it’s of the worst kind of choice with Pipe dream for people on GC. The limbo is more painful than going back.
YOU demanded for the infinite renewals that passes under AC21... blame yourselves
