Splunk company culture and future

Any Splunk employees here? How is the company culture? Do you see it as a place to grow your career? The culture is it more like a startup or more like a large company? And how do you see the company future? And who are Splunk’s biggest competitors on the market? Thank you!

Splunk seems like a sinking ship lately. It's a revolving door , where all the good old talent has gone and new ones that are coming in are effing up the culture. Nothing new has been built in years. Don't come here for growth. But great place to rest and vest.

The culture is quite poor, describing it as toxic would be apt. There is a set of folks that carry power , any one that is not in that close circle will never get a fair shot at career growth. Leaders are inexperienced and thar is reflected in decisions and the culture.

Splunk brand name on the resume... A big positive Learn new technologies... Average Feel like you accomplished something in product or engineering or ux... Close to zero chance As I said in another post... Splunk is very chaotic in product and engineering. You will get sorely frustrated if you are the type that wants to do good work and be impactful. Totally agree with the above comments

Agree with all of the above. It feels like a sinking ship. We are going through a mass exodus right now..... just like 1.5 years ago. No career development. and don’t get me started about the politics at Splunk.

Thank you all for the answer! How is the cloud transition going? Seems still at an early stage?

Splunk will be going places, and it’s stock will rise post the beating tech is taking overall in the market. As others have said the culture is not good right now. There are huge shifts in leadership, old successful sales folks are in mass exodus for hiring of a lot of others. Splunk is taking a specialist model for sales which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. If You’re looking to advance and climb the ladder though, forget it. Career advancement isn’t there and RSU refreshers have been very poor post initial. Annual raises are almost non-existent. They will get their act together here eventually and the company WILL be going places. but at the moment the culture is very toxic, people are at each other’s throats, and with the loss in recent employees there is a ton of work to be done to play catch-up.

It’s a sinking ship. Lots of top talent has either left or is thinking of leaving (just waiting for next vest cycle, +1 to other comments). Politics is insane and toxic. Splunk hasn’t innovated on anything in the last 3 years. Every year there is the reiteration of cloud first. The company has tried to move to the cloud multiple times, each time with a new pet product that gets killed off when they realize no one actually wants to buy it. Products are developed with 1-2 big customers in mind and teams are overworked to deliver for this one customer. When product doesn’t sell to other customers well because we have only been focused on single use cases for one customer company kills off the product. Good WLB and it’s a nice place to rest and vest and work standard 9-5. People are generally kind

Splunk Area53 Mar 31, 2021

I think it depends on the team per your 9-5. The WLB is horrible. People working 6am to midnight every night. No breaks

Autodesk NeverGU OP Mar 31, 2021

That’s surprising cus on Glassdoor most ppl seems day the glb is ok

Crazy wlb. They think they are Netflix in terms of pip and firing. Do not join splunk.

Splunk 44432 Apr 3, 2021

Which team is doing so much PIP and firing?

Could you dm me your org/team?. I'm looking for internal transfer. Will try to stay away from your team. There is quite literally nothing much to do in my team. Tired of trading stocks

Agreed with all the above comments. Left in December after 2 years
