Hi all, I just received an offer from Spotify and would like your thoughts. I am based in Germany. For context, I initially applied for a Level 2 DS role with expectations of 85k - 95k base. I was rejected for that role, but received an offer for Level 1, which on both ends felt that it would be a better fit. When the recruiter discussed to me about salaries for Level 1, he said that I would be looking at something between 75k - 80k and I pushed for closer to 80k (which now I regret not having pushed closer to 85k). I have 4 years of experience as a Data Analyst, but none as a Data Scientist. TC: Base 80k + Stock 77k/ 4 y + no bonuses I'm a bit at a loss as they offered me the maximum of the range and while I would prefer a base closer to 85k, I don't want to look poorly. And based on my research, Spotify doesn't really do sign-on bonuses, so I'm not really sure what to negotiate or what I am able to negotiate outside of base salary. Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. #data #dataanalytics #datascience #spotify #germany
Sounds like you negotiated already, and they gave you what you asked for. Do you have a reason they should offer you 85 outside of "I prefer 85"? Like, a counter offer? If not, asking for more salary after already doing a negotiation is going to make you look absurd.
I don't have a counter offer or anything, so you're absolutely right. I won't negotiate for salary, but I was hoping to negotiate a sign-on bonus, for example. As my current employer offers a health and wellness budget, which Spotify doesn't. And it may sound a bit absurd, but this is important to me. I'm also curious as to what I can negotiate at Spotify aside from the base salary, because as you said, I think that is already done for me.
