I know there are a lot of ex-Square engineers at Stripe now so I wanted to ask, how was the transition for you? Since there's some overlap in the work that Square and Stripe do, what do you find that Square does better vs Stripe? I was an intern at Square this summer and it was an amazing experience. I want to do an internship for a different company within the fintech space next summer and Stripe is my top choice. Despite this being about internships, I’m curious about full-time experiences. Feel free to respond even if you aren't ex-Square. Thanks for your responses! + pls let me know if I can reach out for a referral / ask more questions 😭 #square #stripe #swe
Your internship experience at either will likely be top notch. I’m an L6 at Square/Cash App and formerly at Stripe. As a full time engineer, culturally SQ is way better. There’s a lot of ways we can take this discussion. What do you want to know about?
Hey could you just broadly speak to what you dislike about Stripe culture? Thanks
I have worked at both Stripe and Square, and Square is 1000x better company to work for. At one time, the very high comp at Stripe made it arguably worth it, but they've changed comp policies and now it's definitely not. I'm a FTE, though, and don't know much about the internship programs at either company.
When did you join block? How’s your stock grant doing?
Internships can't be compared to full time positions.
