Square Interview
Hi, I have an upcoming interview at square for a senior engineer position. Can I get some leads on how/what to prepare. Yoe-8 Tc-170k
I have a phone interview next week as well, i’ve heard they can really ask anything, from what i have gathered they usually ask you to make a small program and build off it throughout the interview, i’ve seen some people say they got asked a DS/A questions but it’s less frequent Hopefully someone who recently interviewed can chime in
Will that program be specific to our daily job technology like if I am a web developer, will it be on web development building UI screens etc or Completely different from our specific technology ?
Im not sure, supposedly the interviewers have a lot of freedom to choose I’d imagine it would be similar to githubs take home that’s like “build a storage api” and you build some simple api, my call is next Thursday so i’ll let you know what type of question i get
I interviewed recently for a front end specific role and got a dynamic programming question in the screening, in the on site I also got DP/algo. I’d say you should prepare for anything.
Are you usually able to solve medium/hard DPs you have never seen before? Or do you mostly rely on previously seen DP questions and hope to remember a pattern?
Tbh I don’t really practice leetcode problems at all. I can’t do hards and struggle with optimizing mediums. Square interviews tend to be very collaborative and I did get help along the way. Make sure to keep cool and communicate well and you should be fine.
There’s an app coding challenge that involves fixing a bug, then extending the app and adding a few new features. You may want to review some CSS rules like positioning elements in the center, using flexbox. Also would be good to brush up on event listeners and general DOM basics. But it also depends on whether you are interviewing for frontend, backend, fullstack, or something else. The pair programming stuff are LC style questions, generally in the easy to medium range.
