Blind, help me decide between my software engineer offers! Square/Cash App: 275/450/25 sign on = 750 first year Microsoft: 270/212.5/30% bonus/100 sign on = 663.5 first two years Figma: 265/425 = 690 but actually ~590 due to adobe stock drop Haven’t tried negotiating the Square offer yet. Any suggestions? I’m excited about its potential but slightly worried about the recession and stock price. Any thoughts on the companies besides TC? 12 YOE, TC: Funemployed #offer #square #microsoft
Congrats for the great offers
Thank you!
Is that director level?
No, it’s principal eng for MS and staff-ish for Square
Msft 67 is a much safer bet in this economy
He has 212 there as the stock/RSU portion
That’s the initial grant. I didn’t include refreshers in any numbers
Congrats, those are some solid offers. Getting an offer at L7 is pretty rare, and it’s a very respected position here. The stock sucks right now but I think it’s undervalued and has a lot of potential. You could be looking at $1M+ TC if we go back up towards $100.
Thank you! Agree on the potential, just a little shell shocked from Snap
Congrats OP! Were the Square and Microsoft interviews 1 separate system design + multiple behavioral or was there coding as well?
They each had at least one coding and behavioral interview. Square had a system design
Thanks for the feedback. So no system design for Microsoft?
Msft l7 will probably be more lucrative in terms of future opportunities. And MSFT stock will likely recover faster than sq or adbe. So TC will be about the same given a few years.
Curious why do you think MS will have more opportunity?
With L67 being one of the higher levels and MSFT being a much larger company than almost any other tech company, I'd imagine the scope of your work is a lot bigger and impacts many more people. If I'm going to hire for principal+, an MSFT L67 would be a great choice. I'd think " if anybody understand large scale products, it's this guy" Generally, i think the larger a company, the more desirable it is for a high level position. Ofc I'm making some assumptions here which may not hold true in your case.
L67, omg. That is 1 level below partner aka partner bench, that too in 12 years. OP bring your a game, it gets pretty competitive up there
Can you please give a breakdown of your Microsoft L67 offer. I am expecting an offer soon too
L67 at 12 yoe?
Is that unusual? What is expected for YOE at L67?
