Square Product Team Interviews

Has anyone recently interviewed with Square for a FE or full stack role? I have a phone screen scheduled but not sure if it will be LC based questions. TC: 165

Can't hurt to brush up on LC. I had two phone screens recently (past 2 weeks) with Square. The style is typically pair programming but sometimes it can be LC. Usually the problem comes in parts, one building on top of the other. It may be an OOD type of question as well. When in doubt, ask your recruiter for format and topics to study/advice on what to focus on.

How did you end up doing!

Loved their interviews. Much less “can you regurgitate a leetcode medium in 30 min" and more "can you pair with another engineer to solve a problem that builds on itself". You're gonna need to know your algos and DSs for any coding interview, but unlikely that you're gonna be asked a question straight from leetcode or if you do, it will be dressed up as a real world application of the problem and will be completed in steps.

I second this. Honestly I think Square should be a gold standard on how interviews (at least coding, haven't seen what system design is like) should be conducted, mainly the less regurgitation of LC problems and more real-world examples.

What did you do to prep?

System design is even more ad hoc, and they tell you what to expect beforehand. Easily my favorite part of the interview.

Sorry what do you mean by ad hoc

The recruiter will tell you the general problem space, and then you get an hour to talk about whatever aspect of that you think you can impress us with.
