Women, help me understand why this is inspirational
I'm a SWE and I don’t really have an opinion about it but if I had to pick a side I’d vote against it since I’m not thrilled about the added stock dilution. I think we did it is bc our mission is economic empowerment and we have a lot of woke employees that advocate for stuff that doesn’t make sense from a business standpoint and probably advocated for this too. Like putting some pressure on Square sellers to let their employees WFH and reinstating Covid leave for non-FTEs at Square even though most companies have ended Covid benefits like wellness days or Meta days and such. tc: 170k
Were they not already doing that?
No, I don’t think they gave employees like admin assistants RSUs.
Square stock soon 📉
Do the grants have a cliff? If so then attrition must be bad and they want to golden handcuff people.
How is the morale? Earnings next week should show how strong the business is going.
A lot of people are upset about lack of comp adjustment after the stock price decline but I think you can count on one hand the companies that have seen similar stock price decline as us ($290 to 76) and adjusted tc (Roblox, nvidia, anyone else?). I think they will adjust tc if our stock declines as much as robinhood ($85 to $9) or snap ($83 to $10). That said, I don’t think morale is that bad bc our earnings have been fine so far unlike Meta, Snap, Roku, etc.
Thanks for the insight. Appreciate it!
Square stock is performing worse than Meta so it’s probably a cheaper way to increase comp at a discounted rate because at vest time it won’t worth as much.
Damn, they weren’t doing that before?🤔
SWEs/PMs and some other job functions always got stocks, but not every job function.
Is square still hiring SWEs?
Yes, we never slowed down hiring and SWEs are being asked to interview more candidates.
Do you have openings in Seattle and around? How is the work and culture like?
Where did you hear this. AH literally said they weren’t doing this on Tuesday.
Thought strategy&finance people always received them
They probably did, I didn’t mean to imply otherwise.
