Hey Blind. Got an offer from T-Mobile through a recruiting company. This is a 6 months contract to hire role, but my mind is not settled for the TC at $145k ($78 per hour rate) How can I negotiate a better salary. I was expecting $160-180K range. Current TC: $115 YOE: 4
78*40= 3,120/week = 162,240/year Looks like you’re getting what you want lol
Is the contracting firm offering health insurance benefits? If so, you may wish to consider the contract if you would like to get into T-Mobile because it is an in-hand offer. Otherwise, why not just apply for T-Mobile jobs directly? Are you a FTE at Microsoft? If so, there is no way I would leave Microsoft for a contract position anywhere.
Yes, I'm FTE at MSFT. I'm only excited for better opportunities which could be T-Mobile once turned FT after 6 months.
You can tell them you have a better offer from another company and see if they’re willing to match it as you like working with them more.
TMO likes to use/abuse contractors because cutting them involves no red tape, and no benefits payment. They end your contract whenever they want for whatever reason with no warning. An employee has to have a reason and documentation to be fired, Employee layoffs get severance. I would stay where the company is investing in you as a full time employee. Otherwise, you’re gambling.
78$ is low, ask for a 100$.
Don’t leave msft fte for contract another fte will come but keep these salary ranges in mind
Contracting is like getting paid to look for other jobs. They can and will cut you at anytime even if you’re performing.
Why leaving job at msft for tmo shitty jobs ? Things r worst here and anymoment there can be layoff heavily , There are kind of saturation with new connections , HINT is kind of worst internet, tmo business tfb is difficult to pull off , I believe this company has more mgrs over engineers who actually work, lol , you never know after 6months your team exists or will be scrapped , lol , I would suggest same amount of time in studying and move to other FAANG
This ☝️. I would ve suggested if you are from a noname company. But ibwould says its foolish go to a contractor in this market at TMO
How did you get 145k from 78/hr? Standard work year is 2080 hrs.
Well, the offer stated $78/hr. I've never been paid hourly rate before so I might be wrong with my calculations.
