Starting a union
Does anyone have experience with unions? My job is in textile manufacturing, everyone is miserable, not being paid enough, and has problems with management playing favorites/not addressing concerns. At my last review they asked me not to share my pay raise (45 cents) to the rest of my coworkers as to not “make anyone jealous”. I think the highest raise that anyone not in a supervisor or managerial role got was 75 cents. I would like to talk to someone already in a textile related union or who has experience with any in a manufacturing setting.
Fuck unions. Why are you working there if the conditions are so poor. I’ve quit numerous jobs because of the conditions and shit pay, and each time my next job was better and better until I got into eng. It’s your fault if you aren’t putting in effort to find a different job. Otherwise, why don’t you start your own company.

People who unionize are typically folks who aren’t willing to develop marketable skills to differentiate themselves from the plethora of people competing for the same job, resulting in the low pay. Did you ever study economics? Having a family is no reason you can’t make a resume and apply for a new fucking job.
Is this in US? Didn't realize there's still any textile manufacturing done in US.
There’s quite a bit in the US. Lots of it is largely automated and/or smaller runs but it’s out there! Just not in the same forms as it once was.
