So I didnt bother to interview around at other companies after i recieved a return offer from Amazon after my internship. I didnt have enough motivation. It seems to get a lot of flak on Blind as a meh place to work. Will this still be an above average career move for me to start here vs. companies like Msft or Fb or Uber? Will I be highly sought after and respected by other companies? After all we never stay at the same company forever right.
Move teams or companies after 2 - 3 years. It’s fine.
Seriously best place to work for new grads
Why
The dev env is super mature. The business attitude is aggressive and extremely successful. The pay is great and the stock is unbeatable. You will learn more in 1year than what you can learn anywhere else in 5.
As a new grad working at Amazon, this thread is just heartening af to me
Haha what does that mean?
Heartening, as in producing warm happy feelings, a sense of well-being, soothing the anxiety about working at the least prestigious of the big prestigious tech companies, etc
Prepare for your soul to be crushed
I did the same a year ago, I don't regret it one bit. But do take the time to reinforce your interviewing skills while it's still fresh, it'll pay off
Welcome! We are a company that’s been built by college grads. You’ll learn a shit ton. If you decide to move on, you’ll be able to operate and scale any service. We have a great track record for start ups given the way our teams run too. If you decide to stay, you are statistically set up to do better than anyone hired in.
Ya you will be fine. I worked at Amazon and now I work at Microsoft, and I learned a ton more at Amazon. Plus, you can always try to work at Google or Facebook next.
