I'm 45 years old. i can't say I'n that fit. My weight is more or less ok if we take my height into considerations. I do try to take breaks, maybe I need to take more. Started to have some back pains, not sure if its because i'm training with Oculus Quest and maybe did not do warm ups. I took a break for several days, the pain disappeared. Tried to train again, a bit more easy, and it returned. A. I want to see a doctor - should I see my GP ? (I'm in Washington state) , immediately go to specialist? which one? B. Any recommended trainer who can help me with back pains? Thank you !
First GP Then he will redirect you
This isn’t Canada. Go to specialist directly
There can be multiple reasons for back pain. GP can do those checks
Definitely go and see a doctor - don’t listen to advice of some randos on blind. Hopefully doc will prescribe physio sessions and strength exercises. All of my back problems disappeared when I started doing some lifting and callisthenics
I will definitely see a GP! Sorry I was not clear about it, I am curious what worked for you guys. What is callisthenics?
Keep a journal of your pain for a few weeks. Go to doctor. They will refer you to correct specialist based on your pain journal. (Aka a log of how you feel)
Exercise to strengthen your core. Yoga, pilates, that sort of thing. Strong back is a healthy back.
Definitely want to see a doctor. But in tandem, this is great advice. Having a strong core is crucial — front, back, upper legs. Often time your back is compensating for weakness elsewhere and gets sore/tired from all the extra work. Keeping weight low (esp belly fat) and your core strong keeps your back healthy.
You need to diagnose the source of the pain before finding a trainer. See a doc about it. Also how is your office/home office set up? Consider investing in a sit stand desk and a good quality chair.
Got Ther Aaron Herman miller , and will buy standing desk for sure!
Read a book called "Crooked, outwitting the back pain industry...". Then look up Stuart McGill, Craig liebensen, and Annie O'Connor. You could try the protocol from " back mechanic" as well. Then see a PM&R doctor if you want...though it might be a waste of time. Do you have any neurological symptoms or is it just back pain alone? Also, walk everyday unless that makes the pain worse.
I am 42. About 6 or 7 years ago I had terrible back pain due to sitting in front of computer all day. I did two things. 1. Bought Herman Miller Aeron. At the time it was just shy of $800. Today around $1600. You may get a company discount. Check your square perks. 2. Bought a standing desk. Both came about two days apart. Herman Miller is so good that I never used the standing part of my standing desk. No back pain since last seven years.
Have Herman Miller Aeron, it does help! I will also buy standing desk and sometimes stand and sometimes sit, also - you need to buy proper standing mat for the desk
Yoga, deadlifts, and steak
A chiropractor can help as well in many cases, though that's more of a short-term fix. It's easy to get hooked on going in fornyour adjustment when really you need to be stretching and strengthening your back to balance out your muscle tone.
What kind of pain? Does it “radiate” down your lower limbs?
