just received an offer from a series b startup for a mid-level SWE role base: $155k signon: $20k equity: 0.04% wondering how competitive this is YOE: 1.5
Equity is a joke
Why startup that early in your career? What do they offer besides TC for your growth?
Second this. Startups are not great this early in career, and could be downright harmful.
Lot of folks joined PayPal/Facebook when they were startups, now they’re either retired or have venture capitalists. As with anything in life, the answer is somewhere in the middle. I have only worked at startups straight out of college, have been pretty successful. Yes, there is survivorship bias, but I definitely wouldn’t qualify it as harmful.
I think the equity is on the lower end, I would push for 0.1%.
What's their valuation?
Location?
If this is in sea, pretty damn good. Could be better. If this is in Bay Area, meh, seems average.
I am out of touch if this is meh for 1.5yoe at a series b startup.
I’m 2 YOE 198k cash. Yaya we are not even a startup any more yada yada yada. I had an offers ranging from 150-180k cash from series b-d.
how many employees?
That’s my question as well.
