Hi Blind Community! I just got an offer recently from a startup, and I am deciding whether or not I should stay or go. Currently, at DSS I am on track to be promoted to a senior position (perhaps next year) to P3. I love working on applications with Scala and get used to the team and also the technology stack. However, Hopper seems like it is in a high-growth startup right now. The company structure is also pretty unique and data-driven and the goal that I believe is a little bit different than DSS. I want to share a comp package on the offer, and would like to ask for any suggestions on whether or not I should stay longer in DSS get a better title and leave - or I should jump ship right now. Startup Comp: level: L4 Base: 170 K Stock Options: 200K (vest over 4 yrs They said that they will quadruple in the next 2 - 5 years. However, I still think that this is no real money since it is hard to liquidate) No Signup bonus Current TC: ~140K base (25- 30% LTI & 7% bonus each year) 3 YOE Will you leave or will you stay? and Why? #engineering #software #disneystreamingservices #offer #negotiation
Should leave DSS, but you can do better than hopper
I have a former colleague there. He seems to like it. They were also open to me writing more FP orientated code if that's your thing since you like Scala.
Even if Hopper is valueless equity, you’re still ahead. It’s probably worth more than nothing, so hop on over!
Thanks for the comments Facebook! Would you explain why do you think Is better to hop over? Is it based on the culture at hopper and also it’s future company growth? One thing that made me hesitate is it is almost towards the end of the year and I thought and i may think about getting a payout by EOY before searching for other company
