Considering trying for a jump from Google to Meta. Currently L5 PM with 8 yoe and a good GRAD rating this cycle. I feel stuck in my current role, drowning in bureaucracy and lacking the scope/opportunities for a clear path to L6 in the foreseeable future. Internal transfer opportunities are limited right now. I'm intrigued by Meta's focus on AR/VR and consumer-facing products. However, concerns about Meta's historical grind culture and WLB give me pause. OTOH, Google morale is low post-layoffs, and I'm already working 50hrs/wk. Wondering what Meta culture is like today and if the grass is truly greener. Would appreciate insights from those who have faced a similar decision or made the jump recently. Additional considerations: - Interview prep is time-consuming, so seeking validation before committing - Industry layoffs make a switch right now feel risky - Meta's TC would undoubtedly beat Google's - I think Meta has better perks (?) Lastly, what's the possibility of interviewing at L6 at Meta? Appreciate your thoughts, Blind family. TC: $400k #pm #product #productmanager #google #meta
Stay at Google
Just interview.
Yeah, seriously. You should take interviews just to keep practice, if nothing else.
You should always interview. Why is this a question? 10 years down the line u don’t want to think I didn’t switch over because I didn’t try interviewing
I think you should provided you match with one of those teams. Not sure how easy it’ll be to switch to that team while within Meta
Interview at Meta. Get the offer. You will have so much more clarity in your mind with a solid offer in hand and a feel from an interview then with a hypothetical one.
Better company
bro get an offer first then we’ll talk
Honestly I get it, but I'd rather not invest the time and energy into the interview process if I can get help short circuiting the decision first, you know?
why are you only open to meta then
