Worst possible way to evaluate a candidate. It makes tech interview just a luck based casino of wether you seen the question before. If you are at a company that asks Leetcode hards then take the initiative and change your interview process.
Well depends on what kind of hard. Some hard are actually doable.
So you’re saying some hards are not hard? Maybe they should be medium then!
Some medium aren’t medium and some easy aren’t easy.
Personally I've come close to asking a few interviewers if they were able to solve the questions themselves.. Before peeking at the solution. Technically they will be your peers or leads, so if they can't solve it, perhaps it's a bad yardstick to judge candidates. Food for thought
They can probably solve it as they memorised it before the interview. A better trick is to have some obscure leetcode hard in your pocket that you also memorized and ask your interviewer to do it. When interviewer can't solve it and you can, tell the interviewer you should have his job as you are raising the bar. Spoiler: interviewer will run from the room.
Nokia you are delusional
I guess the idea of Algo/Ds interview became broken once things like Leetcode/Ctci appeared. Tasks that were hard then are easy now, and people compete not in analytical thinking but Leetcode patterns matching. And this is so sad
It was just used to test your thought process. I didn’t finish a Leetcode hard but still got the offer.
Lol, try explaining your thoughts to google/fb interviewers and don’t solve the problem. We will see how it goes. You just go lucky with a good interviewer who analyzed you based on thought process.
"It was just used to test your thought process" I'm sorry but that's bullshit. Especially when it's practically a matter of policy that no optimal solve => no hire
Be the change you want to be OP. Refuse to interview at any company that asks leetcodes at all.
Psh, the only thing we do here is inverting binary trees, that's obviously a relevant question to ask
Hard != luck Why hard is not doable? How about asking 2Sum every single time? Are you happy?
Jerking Leetcode != being smart. What you are saying is a jerking Leetcode. Think about why higher positions are not asked about such "logical&intuitive" questions.
Did I say leetcoding == being smart?
Interviewers typically expect a partial solution for a hard
Airbnb won’t though 😅
Definitely true. I didn’t have any partial hards in my interviews
I ask 3 hards in a 45 min interview. So far my pass rate is 5% 😂 who said that cracking into FANG was easy. (I'm joking don't take that seriously)
You’ve got a great sense of humor
That moment when “I am joking” itself is a joke.
I thought nokia was acquired by Microsoft
Just Nokia Mobility, I guess.
Nokia is still making phones on it’s own.
