Has Stripe flirted with the idea of layoffs? Should new hires or people currently interviewing fear for their lives?
As far as I know, they’re still actively hiring. They just slowed it down from 2021 a bit
I hope not. I’m waiting for results from onsite 🥲
Would you move if you get an offer from them?
we’ll need another post for that 😂
No layoffs, just decreasing hiring targets.
Yep
TY for the info 🙇
I am a new hire too and I am scared 😳 about layoffs. I just got to know today that in next 6 months recession is confirmed. I heard in our meeting that teams have to stretch themselves and work hard in coming months. I am thinking to reach out to my old employer to see if I can hop back. I am worried that no matter how much you perform it’s ultimately who your manager likes will not be laid off😩.
But why would we lay off when it’s already objectively clear how stretched thin existing employees are (and how hard we’ve worked to recruit them)?
I am not sure how bad this recession will impact Stripe. I don’t know 🤷♀️ what my boss thinks about my performance as I started recently. I know for sure that I wouldn’t be laid off in my previous company as my boss knows my skill set. Being a top performer in my previous company and being in this situation is just making me nervous everyday. I would need atleast a year to prove myself with new manager. Most of the management are from Amazon. Knowing Amazon culture/ management. They are ruthless about firing people. It’s just bad timing ⏱.
Fear for their lives? Get a grip and stop fear mongering.
