I’m unsure if I want to join Stripe remotely or in office. I honestly miss the office perks. Does anyone have information about Stripe’s SF office. Is it nice, is the food good. Do they serve dinner? Is there a gym? Im also wondering if it is possible to do hybrid work? Will post offer details once I get them.
Return to office for people tired to an office like SF: 2022 is voluntary so you can go in when you want.. 2023 is being determined as a hybrid approach
If you join remotely you’ll get $2500 to build your home office and everyone also gets $250 a month for personal things so you can build a home gym with that
New office is in Oyster Point in South San Francisco. It is open but under construction. Only breakfast and lunch but I assume dinner will come back eventually.
What’s the vibe at the office right now? Is it empty or are people returning to the office?
Some go. Most don’t. It doesn’t feel dead but not the energy of pre pandemic either. Hiring in SF was scaled back over the past two years in favor of other locations and full remote.
You should join as remote. You can still go into the office and the pay is the same if you live in SF, tied to location not whether or not you are remote. Being remote also gets you a home office stipend no benefit to signing up as in office. Perhaps later on being non-remote gets you an assigned desk, but for now no one gets their own desk anyway, it’s assigned per day. Source: I’m a “remote” stripe that goes into the office whenever I want
That’s great insight, thank you!
Your pay will be slightly lower as a fully remote. Stripe is actively trying to recruit outside of SF

Curious. Isn't Stripe a direct competitor of Shopify? Don't you have non-compete?
I dont think we’re direct competitors, Stripe processes all of our payments. Also Im not relevant enough to trigger the non-compete clause of my contract, im just a senior dev. It matters more for managers and exec. I’ve seen colleagues leave for direct competitors like Square without any issues
Thanks for letting me know but I would double check my contract if I were you.
