Stripe was pretty known to not have the best WLB. With the lay offs, do you think the WLB will get even worse? Would most employees be able to cope? #stripe
I’m going to prioritize making good technical decisions and producing quality work. That’s it. Talk to the hand about deadlines or other details. I don’t want to hear it. What are they gonna do? Fire me? 🙀
"What are you gonna do? Fire me?" Boss - "You're fired"
And that’s okay, if that’s how it shakes out. I’ll just go work somewhere else.
I feel for people laid off without warning, some (or a lot) of them are in a crappy situation now. But I also feel for people who are still at Stripe, especially in certain orgs. The uncertainty would drive me crazy, how can you trust that your job is actually safe? One positive might be teams coming together and forming closer bonds. Good luck to all current and former Stripers!
stripe needs to cut their valuation another 60-80% to reflect real market value.
Ouch
Not sure whether people who survived Stripe layoff are happier than who got laid off.
We will find out in a month. Most indications in our org point to reduced set of priorities for 2023. Depends on how well thats followed.
