Anyone feeling stuck lately? Maybe even add in a dash of late stage burnout to the mix. For background, I’m a product dude driving strategy across a few different businesses. No longer at EA but still in the gaming world. I’ve been struggling with work for the past year. Not that it’s difficult... really the opposite... just feeling super unmotivated by it all. The lack of motivation can be traced back to pre-COVID times to August 2019. Since then I’ve done interviews for career changing / career progressing opportunities- got deep in a bunch but nothing felt like it was worth taking the leap. I’m contemplating taking an extended break in the coming year but have some reservations about loss of insurance and inability to find something worthwhile on the other end of it. Last thing - I’m not depressed at all - really loving my personal life. This feels like it’s entirely a mid-career crisis. So Blind friends, some questions: - if you or a colleague has felt this way in the past what did you do to figure out your next step? - ever think of swapping out to do something that betters humanity? What did you explore? The infamous TCSpirituality trade off... - anyone that took some extended time off 6 months/1 year what did you do to not waste it and come out better on the other end? Merry Christmas all and thanks for the thoughts. TC 400s #burnout #stuck #careerplanning #sabbatical #life
Been feeling like that this year. I can’t afford to take time off, although been contemplating it to pursue my writing career. I would say if you’re feeling unmotivated then take that break, perhaps during your break you’d find what you’re looking for that betters humanity
Feeling it too but family obligations keep me put
