'Hindutva': The Radical Hindu Ideology That Seeks to 'Push Christianity Out of India’
I got laid off 6 months ago from my previous company and I interviewed for SDE positions at Walmart, Amazon, Goldman Sachs and was able to get a full-time offers from all three of them. Due to H1B timeline of 60 days and me getting the jobs at the end of the timeline, my manager at Walmart suggested that i join as a contractor and then transfer to full-time once transfer takes place. Unfortunately after sometime he reached his headcount limit and my manager is not converting me into full time and I cannot move into the other companies because all of them have hiring freezes. Are there any other teams (within the mentioned companies) or any other companies hiring right now?
That’s a red flag in itself when walmart interviewed for full time and manager suggesting you to join as contractor. Right now all tech is in hiring freeze and even if positions are open they are internal backfills for absolute necessary teams.
Feel sorry for OP. But there is hiring freeze and your manager couldn’t have done anything. Hope you get the full time offer soon.
You should reach out to an employment lawyer. It seems to me that you joined the company in good faith which turned out now to be false (even if it’s not the managers fault for not having a HC) - as walmart said that they will convert you to a FTE once the transfer takes place. If they had said no to that- you probably wouldn’t have joined and would have taken up another offer. I would ask the lawyer what your options are. Even if it’s just to make yourself aware of your rights against what walmart said at the time of you joining the company.
That might be his own or partnered consultant … Walmart is hiring I think and it will be easier for you to find internally , keep relationship with this manager good (if you were not on h1,I would have suggestions differently)and network within Walmart
DM for JPMC referral if interested. Anyone else interested is welcome to DM as well.
Wow. Looks like Your manager at Walmart got what they wanted and didn’t care about your future. All you needed to join the new company was for them to submit the application to uscis right? You didn’t have enough time for even that? I’m afraid you may have to start over
It usually takes around 2-4 weeks for transfer to a new firm. That is why he suggested to join as a contractor via a consultancy.
Consultancy dont have to do the paperwork?
