https://www.forbes.com/sites/jackkelly/2020/09/28/google-ceo-sundar-pichai-calls-for-a-hybrid-work-from-home-model/ I don’t know a single person on my team who wants to work from home full time, and yet the majority of my team would like to work from home some of the time. Facebook (and other tech companies) only seem open to an all or nothing approach currently, but it looks like Google might move forward with the model most employees actually want. #facebook #google #wfh
a lot of people i know want to work remote full time and come into office only as needed. his solution doesn't address this.

Because most company heads believe that being in the office is better. Technically it is and companies want to extract the most out of you. When compared to video calls, I can't imagine it being that far behind in person. Besides, there has always been this reality that if you are the only one remote you will always be left out of certain conversation's. Even if they do allow for a hybrid model, is the company going to set aside a budget to setup an at home office? Developing on a laptop when compared to 1+ large screens is night and day.
Google already gave all employees $1000 to setup a home office so the last point is moot.
