Sunnyvale

Im 25 and single. 99% reason I want to leave Amazon is because of seattle dating market (just my personal experience and opinion) and weather. I landed a offer but it seems likely to be in Sunnyvale. Has anyone been there? I don't think it's realistic for me to live in sf and commute 45 minutes each way everyday. I will probably be living in Sunnyvale close to work. I don't want to spend my next few years like past two in Seattle. I feel like money and experience only goes so far to secure happiness. Has anyone made this choice before and regret it? If I go to Sunnyvale I'll probably be single for the next 2 years until I transfer out and I'm not sure it's worth it... I'd like to hear seniors who have been in my position. Recruiter said there was no positions in NY :(

Lol do your research. The Bay Area is way worse than Seattle.

Google Noogler69 Jan 31, 2018

I’ve actually heard people claim that Seattle is worse. I don’t think either is very good

Microsoft Heifbfis Jan 31, 2018

I am speaking based on my experience.

Google Gccr67 Jan 31, 2018

Weather definitely better. Dating, not so.much.

Are there dateable women in the Bay? I havent seen many

Depends on what you are looking for. White hot young non fatties probably are more rare than unicorn. Tech Asian chicks including Desi probably slightly better, now if you are into Latinas and Ebony then it might be to your advantage as a high income tech bro. Don't expect to be worship like a god. Everyone has a BMW or Mercedes, it is expected that you can afford it even if you don't have one.

I live in Sunnyvale. It’s super suburban with nothing to do but the apps still work and you can get into the city easily on a weekend. btw it would be easily over an hour commute from sf.

Seattle sucks balls. Boring little town

Qualcomm zHIy06 Jan 31, 2018

Forget about dating in Sunnyvale

Apple shillphilr Jan 31, 2018

I would just do the commute from SF on a bus or Caltrain, it’s far but worth it. Living in SJ is another reasonable option, it’s becoming more and more of a “real city”.

Google YourVP Jan 31, 2018

Complained about weather, came to Sunnyvale. I see what you did there

Amazon yir OP Jan 31, 2018

Just a follow-up, I'm not looking to maintain my situation but to improve it. From what I read here Sunnyvale is at most the same as seattle.

Cruise Automation Frend Jan 31, 2018

Yeah SF is the best bet in the region, but it's not a high bar

Microsoft Heifbfis Jan 31, 2018

Nyc, la > sf, Seattle > seattle east side, sunny vale

HPE yeqg Jan 31, 2018

I work in Sunnyvale. It's basically Bangalore. If you're into Indian dudes this place will be perfect for you.

Amazon ehdM08 Jan 31, 2018

Lol

Microsoft hfFbuRs Jan 31, 2018

So even more of a sausage fest than seattle??

Microsoft na. Jan 31, 2018

If no other choices now, move to Sunnyvale to enjoy the sunshine, and wait for another 1 or 2 years relocate to nyc when opportunities come around.
