Switch from Infosys and SAP in India to Full stack in FAANG

I've got really great reviews in the past at my SAP job. I work as a functional consultant in SAP. I have worked with developers in the past and understand systems design. I've been going through blind and levels.fyi and realised that SAP salaries in India are peanuts. I am considering a switch to full stack development and getting a job at a FAANG company in India. Are SAP consulting salaries worth it anymore? Or is it better to switch to becoming a full stack developer? I have knowledge of ABAP and have programmed in it before. I really love programming. I have a cs degree and know systems design. Have worked on 4 implementations hence understand systems design quite well. Any tips on which tech stack to learn, how to go about getting a job at FAANG? You’re going to have a hard time getting into a FAANG as a dev without a CS degree or significant programming experience

I have a cs degree and have experience programming in ABAP

Do you program in at least a couple of mainstream languages (think Java, Python, C++ etc)?

It’s impossible to get a job in FAANG or any companies of similar stature if you stick to a particular tech stack like SAP. At FAANG like companies in India, new grads with 0 experience make upto 30 lacs a year, and an SDE2 role these days (5-6 years of experience) is getting around 50-60 lpa. You can easily make 80+ lpa as a Senior Engineer.

Fwiw - to get a job at FAANG, you have to: 1. become really good at data structures and algorithms (check out leetcode.com) 2. get deep understanding of operating systems, databases (do one of the Coursera ones), and 3. have strong knowledge of designing large scale distributed systems (start with “system design primer on github”, then do “grokking the system design interview” on educative.io, bonus if you want to become a pro - read “designing data intensive applications” by Martin kleppmann)

Ty. Any resources to get started? Leetcode, practice programming on hackerrank?

Zero experience fresh out of college make 30 lacs that’s amazing.. here the SAP Consultants with more than 16 yrs experience hardly make 20 lacs. Now a days kids going to school also learning python, Java what not.. good that our next generation will not hard time making money like us ...

Absolutely. SAP India salaries are peanuts

Are you a SAP consultant too?

Just adding. You can also try to transition into an SDE role thorugh the Devops path or SDE-T path (even applications engineer) in Amazon atleast. Seen some people do that too.

Ok thanks

What's SDE-T?

First try transitioning to a sde/sdet or dev ops role in a startup and then try for faang in a couple of years. Easiest would be to transition into a dev role in your current company. Meanwhile, you can use the resources mentioned by @mf boom to hone your skills.

Ok

I am an SAP security consultant in Accenture and I want to get into FAANG too, its kinda doubtful that they will take me even If i crack the coding interview, I have been prepping for DS and ALGO through leetcode, but am i wasting time ? as my experience is not relevant to programming at all ? will they still hire me ?
